Straight Outta Oak Cliff
Oak Cliff has a new voice repping it hard, and his name is E-Mannie. Coming up out of Dallas, E-Mannie has built a lane for himself as one of the few Latino Dallas rappers making noise in the scene right now, and he wears that distinction with pride.
His sound is country rap tunes, raw and rooted in the streets that raised him. E-Mannie didn’t come up with a co-sign or a shortcut, he put in the work in Oak Cliff, building his name one bar and one show at a time until people had no choice but to listen.
The New Music
Country rap tunes isn’t a term E-Mannie made up, it’s a sound with roots that go back to Pimp C and UGK. Pimp C is credited with coining the phrase, and back in the day he made it clear the South was going to get its respect one way or another. He once challenged doubters to put all the Southern records on one side of the store and everybody else’s on the other, just to see who actually sold more. That’s the lineage E-Mannie is stepping into, and on his new single “Trunk Bang” he shows he can carry that torch while still sounding like himself.
Who’s Backing Him
E-Mannie isn’t doing this alone. The “Trunk Bang” video was produced by Browny Beats and P. Yella and features Ricky Blaine, the kind of camaraderie that is starting to build around him in the Dallas scene. That kind of support is how movements get built, one collaboration at a time.
Between the growing catalog and the co-signs starting to stack up, E-Mannie has some notable accomplishments already under his belt, and this is just the beginning. Oak Cliff is watching, and so should you.
